Welcome
Maine's terrific restaurants, lobster shacks, cafes, and markets are my wonderful subject in Chow Maine, a guide book to food on the coast of Maine published by Countryman Press, an imprint of W.W. Norton. My name is Nancy English, and I am the author of this book, as well as the co-author of Maine, An Explorer's Guide, from the same publisher. I also write restaurant reviews for the Maine Sunday Telegram, and articles like this overview of Maine's great brew pubs.

The 15th Edition of the Maine Explorer's Guide is out. Jam-packed with information about great new places to eat, stay and be entertained, this guide is the perfect companion for Mainers and visitors alike, who would no doubt all enjoy a walk on Monhegan Island in the photograph above.
"The Maine Explorer's Guide is an excellent guide book. I'm extremely impressed with how comprehensive and accurate it is. I've used it extensively on my travels. My compliments to Christina Tree, Nancy English and Countryman Press! A ton of work has gone into it." Janet Mendelsohn, travel writer for the Boston Globe and author.
". . . I can take this opportunity to thank you. Even though I live in Maine, I have purchased every edition [of the Maine Explorer's Guide], and have often given them to friends and relatives who are planning a trip," wrote J.W., in a note to the publisher, Countryman Press.
